Schools Started! Plans that might come to fruition!

So, I guess I'll add myself to the hordes of people who can't complete their new year's resolutions. I haven't posted in a month because... I was on vacation and didn't do anything for a month. But never fear! School is here! Which means that I'll have some rather interesting projects to work on and (hopefully) write about!

To add to the list of many things I've been planning to do, here's what I will be doing for school (which means I'll actually finish them by the time May comes around):

  • Learning Parallel Programming. I'll do some short homework assignments to learn OpenMP, Concurrent Java, Hadoop, MPI, and CUDA. As of now, I only know what one of these things means.
  • Programming a Robot! The ultimate goal for this project is that I get the Raven, a surgical robot, to respond to hand gestures from the 3Gear, which uses Kinects to detect hand joints. The stuff that goes in-between ends up being a lot more important (integrating the CISST and ROS libraries) but sounds less interesting.
I've uploaded some code from past projects to the Bitbucket! Namely, I uploaded a data scraper I wrote last semester for my Databases project, and my programming assignments from my first Computer Integrated Surgery course. I don't really feel the need to talk about them now, but go forth and check out my updated Bitbucket! (link should be to your right.)
